Although this class does not contain an online learning assignment, are two resources that students are encouraged to download and use in order to pass the course.

The American Aquatics & Safety Training Lifeguarding Training Manual covers all of the technical skills and knowledge in the lifeguarding program.  From reference images to steep-by-step breakdowns, this manual is the source for all things lifeguarding.

Your AAST Lifeguarding course contains video links to prepare for your course.  These video sessions last 6.5 hours, and cover the entirety of the course, including all the same information as the manual.

Students are highly encouraged to read the manual and/or watch all videos prior to attending the course session.  Please note that the bulk of the in-person course is devoted to skill practices, demonstrations, and scenarios, however independent study is required as the final exam will include information from the manual and/or videos.

Happy studying, and we'll see you on your first day of class!

About The Program

Please note, if your pool requests a specific lifeguard certification from a specific institution, (such as specifically requesting Star Guard or American Red Cross), this course may not fulfill that requirement.  Check with your recruiter to see if a specific lifeguard certification is necessary.  If no specific institution is required, this nationally recognized program meets all lifeguarding requirements for Shallow Water Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and First-Aid.
